  5. INTRODUCTION
  6. ------------

  8. kiddie Puzzles is a children's educational program running under Microsoft 
  9. Windows 3.0 and 3.1.  It is designed for children from 2 to 6.  This program
  10. teaches children about the use of mouse and improves hand-eye coordination.
  11.  
  12. The registered version contains 10 different puzzles consisting of animals,
  13. people, objects, numbers, and shapes.  The different puzzles will display
  14. randomly to provide continuous fun for children.  The demo version 
  15. contains only one puzzle of animals.  If your children likes to play kiddie 
  16. puzzles on the computer, please register for the complete set of puzzles.

  18. You are welcome to distribute or share kiddie Puzzles demo program with
  19. your friends provided you do not alter the contents of this program.
  20. Only kiddie Puzzles version 0.1 can be treated as public domain software.
  21. You may not distribute the registered version.

  26. The distribution version of KIDDIE PUZZLES contains the following files
  27.  
  28.         PUZZLES.EXE  -  the main executable
  29.         PUZZLES.TXT  -  this readme file
  30.         PZ0.DLL -  graphic library for puzzle #1
  31.  
  32. All of the above files should be located in the same sub-directory for 
  33. the program to operate properly.

  35. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  36. -------------------

  38. Since kiddie Puzzles operates under Microsoft Windows 3.0 environment,
  39. the following system configuration is recommended for kiddie PUZZLES
  40. to run effectively.
  41.  
  42.     - PC/AT 286, 386, 486, or better computer operating
  43.       at speed greater than 10 MHz
  44.  
  45.     - Microsoft Windows 3.0 or later operating environment
  46.  
  47.     - Mouse pointing device
  48.  
  49.     - EGA, VGA, and XGA display system
  50.

  52. INSTALLATION
  53. ------------

  55. To install KIDDIE PUZZLES, just copy the files stated in the FILE LIST 
  56. paragraph above into a sub-directory of your choice.  Then, you should
  57. activate the Microsoft Windows 3.0 environment.  Next, select the 
  58. "RUN" option under the "file" menu item of your Windows 3.0 Program 
  59. Manager.  This will result a dialog box appears on your screen.  Under
  60. the "Command Line" input, type in the directory path of KIDDIE PUZZLES 
  61. and PUZZLES.EXE to execute the program.
  62.  
  63. If you want to permanently install KIDDIE PUZZLES in your Program 
  64. Manager, please refer to Windows 3.0 User's manual for the procedures
  65. to adding icons within Program Manager.

  67. PROGRAM OPERATION
  68. -----------------

  70. Upon activating KIDDIE PUZZLES,  it will undergo an initialization process 
  71. for a period of 15 seconds.  During this time, a message box will be 
  72. displayed on the screen, and the mouse will be disabled.  When the mouse 
  73. is re-enabled, you may click on the "OK" bottom to enter the main program.
  74.  
  75. After initialization, KIDDIE PUZZLES displays a puzzle in the center
  76. and eleven puzzle pieces on the top and the bottom of the screen.  Just
  77. drag the pieces with a mouse to match the shape in the puzzle.   When the 
  78. mouse bottom is released.  If a match is found, the piece will fit in the
  79. puzzle, otherwise, it will return to its original place.  When all pieces
  80. are placed, a new puzzles will come up.  In the demo program, the same
  81. puzzle will appear but pieces will be in different locations.  Double
  82. click on the left corner to exit program at any time.

  88. The distribution version of KIDDIE PUZZLES is a freeware.  It serves as 
  89. a demonstration for the registered version of KIDDIE PUZZLES.  However, 
  90. it is copyrighted material, and it is protected by the copyright laws
  91. of the United States.  You may not alter, decompile, nor disassemble
  92. the program for any purpose.

  94. We encourage you to share this distribution version of KIDDIE PUZZLES 
  95. with your friends.

  100. Registraion fee for Kiddie Puzzles is $15.00.  For registered user of
  101. Pictures ABC, an earlier program by Vantage Software, the registration fee
  102. is $7.50.
